Some of you may know this about me. I have a little notebook that I keep with ideas for photoshoots that I dream of doing one day. Sometimes I even sketch how I want to set it up (and if anyone ever got ahold of that book and thought they could “steal” my ideas like in the movie Elf, well, good luck! Haha my drawings are like chicken scratches!!). But anyway, for years I”ve had this dream of doing a photoshoot in a greenhouse. I’ve looked forever for a greenhouse that would work. And then I found one — it wasn’t very close to Stockton, so I just tucked it in my brain as a “One Day” idea. Well, then we decided to do a Summer Blush shootout and I began to wonder if that greenhouse might work. This photoshoot was the realization of a dream I’ve had in my head for probably 5 years and waiting was so worth it!! It was absolutely perfect, and beautiful, and magical, and our little models were like angel babies! And a major shout-out to the owners. They were telling us afterwards that they got the windows from an old hotel and the husband figured out how many windows they had of each shape and size and DESIGNED AND BUILT THE GREENHOUSE HIMSELF!!! I am not math-minded at all, so that makes my brain explode!

I mean seriously — those eyes!! Remember the garden I was talking about in my previous post? This is the same spot — a few weeks later!! I would love to say I planned out that adorable blue tutu to coordinate with her eyes and the gorgeous yellow sunflowers, but honestly — it was dumb luck! I don’t often blog my Bella Baby sessions — mostly I just run out of time because I shoot so many of these sessions each year. But I love them and one of the things I love best about doing the baby’s first year (Bella Baby) program is that I get to watch these beautiful babies change from squishy little newborns into beautiful little boys and girls with so much personality — and I feel like I get to know these families so well after a year that they are more than just “clients!” Love you M family!!1

One of the things I love about being an on-location photographer is watching how locations I use all the time change throughout the year. I never get tired of shooting outside because the same location can look so different week by week! This spot is such a great example. I don’t know what kind of flower was growing in the garden back in May (but I loved it!) and just a few weeks later, this same spot was full of sunflowers. Both times were fantastic for shooting my little baby planner girls!! And this little lady’s smile just brightens up everything (even when there are mean chickens roaming around!).2b
